I’ve been so busy here at LAV that I haven’t had time to post about one of my favourite runway shows from Paris Fashion Week. Oh Karl, you really do create whatever you dream, don’t you?!
This year’s Fall 2010 collection shown last week was based on the issue of global warming, a topic that the designer feels fashion should address. So he sent down the models in beautiful fake fur outfits with the backdrop of this stunning iceberg.
So maybe you’re thinking “Fake fur + Chanel = really?” I’m a little surprised (yet sooo happy to see Lagerfeld starting this animal friendly trend) but he gave two reasons. One: He doesn’t want to compete with Fendi who makes the best real first. Two: “Technical advances are so perfect you can hardly tell fake fur from the real thing. Fake is not chic — we have got a new Chanel tweed to stop copies — but fake fur is.”
Also- yes that’s real ice. Lagerfeld sent models down an iceberg-style runway wearing yeti boots…some of which got left behind in the melting ice and slush (see last pic). The 265 ton glacier was made by the famous Ice Hotel in Sweden and was hidden from the audience before mechanically rising from below the stage.

But let’s face it, the majority of us can’t actually afford a Chanel (albeit fake) fur coat. So take a look at what LAV has to offer…both fake and real but ALL vintage!
