There has been a trend of lace and sheer clothing flowing down the runway and on the streets. Here are a few inspirations worth checking out!
Try it LAV style with these…
This trend is super chic in solid black or white from head to toe, but don’t be afraid to add some color to transform it to a funkier look!
So a few weeks ago I won the H&M Style Eye contest, sponsored by MTV, which included a trip to NYC, shopping spree, and photoshoot for a spread in the June issue of Lucky Magazine! They just released the video for the Spring collection, and the Summer one will be coming out in a few weeks, so excited!! It’s so crazy to see that amazing weekend summed up in less than 2 minutes!
Judging by the runways of Spring 2010, anything goes when it comes to length. At their shortest, there were playsuits and rompers there were almost as short as hot pants. The longest ones we saw reached ankles as full jumpsuits, and in between were knee length and mid-calf, both tight and baggy. Don’t be afraid to try this fun garment this Spring into Summer!
Tips
-There are so many different types of jumpsuits, shopping vintage is the way to go. Each decade has very unique takes on this garment, and you KNOW the designers are inspired by them all!
-Another way to wear the jumpsuit this season is by going exotic- try the billowing harem-style pants that gather at the ankles, paired with a strappy high heel.
-For a night out, opt for sexy fabrics like silks and details like sequins or panels that are color-blocked or sheer.
So you may not be able to snag these pricey labels, so there’s vintage to the rescue! Where do you think these designers even get their ideas from….v.i.n.t.a.g.e.
Abstract shapes, graphic prints, stripes and especially florals this season; almost anything goes when it comes to trouser prints in 2010.
Tips
-Don’t be afraid to mix patterns! Clashing prints can give a sense of careless charm. Just don’t overdo it or you’ll risk looking clown-like.
- If going for a loose fit, pair with either a baggier top that’s part tucked in, part untucked for a nonchalant relaxed look, or a fitted solid colored tank.

Nothing like a bottle of soda donning your favourite fashion designer’s silhouette eh?? French retailer Colette is selling the limited edition Cokes + special box that hides a bottle-opener as well. I’m pretty shocked at the price- about $5 for the bottle, but around $120 for the boxed set. Too bad it’s not a bottle of CCCC- Coco Chanel Coca Cola. Also I doubt Karl Lagerfeld even DRINKS soda, as he self proclaims “I am above food” often..
Blood Is The New Black has teamed up with a few of their most beloved artists to pay tribute to our favorite magazine, NYLON.

LA Vintage is so happy to help spread the word about Molly Ringwald’s new upcoming book Getting The Pretty Back, to be released April 27th! Here’s what we found on the book:
“To her millions of fans, Molly Ringwald will forever be sixteen. As the endearing and witty star of the beloved John Hughes classics Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Pretty in Pink, Molly defined teenage angst, love, and heartbreak. While remembered eternally as the enviable high school princess Claire, or the shy, vulnerable Samantha, Molly has just celebrated her fortieth birthday. Facing a completely new, angst-inducing time in her life, she is embracing being a woman, wife, mother of three, actress, and best friend with her trademark style, candor, and humor.
In Getting the Pretty Back, Molly encourages every woman to become “the sexiest, funniest, smartest, best-dressed, and most confident woman that you can be.” She shares personal anecdotes and entertaining insights about the struggle to get through the murky milestones and identity issues that crop up long after the prom ends. Whether she’s discussing sex and beauty, personal style, travel and entertaining, motherhood, or friendship, Molly embodies the spirit of being fabulous at every age, and reminds us all that prettiness is a state of mind: it’s “the part of you that knows what you really want, that takes risks.”
Lavishly illustrated by Ruben Toledo, Getting the Pretty Back is sure to charm women of all ages with Molly’s unforgettably personal, refreshingly outspoken take on life, love, and, of course, finding that perfect red lipstick. . . .”
We’re so very excited to pick it up, it’s on pre-sale on Amazon. And the most amazing part is that Molly Ringwald herself has agreed to do an interview with LA Vintage about her book, life and vintage clothing that she herself has made so iconic. So stay tuned for that interview and our special 1980’s Pretty In Pink editorial to go along with her words of wisdom to fashionistas everywhere!!!
Intead of ripping off popular designs and selling them to the mass market, Forever 21 has decided to collaborate with Los Angeles based designer Brian Lichtenberg. He’s known best for his eye-catching prints including holographic leggings and geometric designs which are popular among fashion forward celebs/singers M.I.A., Santogold and Beyonce.
Surprisingly this is Forever 21’s first celebrity designed line, and hopefully it won’t be the last! The plan is to release a line of graphic tees in the next coming months but no specific date has been announced.
