The Rehab dropout, Amy Winehouse, has jumped on yet another celebrity bandwagon, colab clothing lines.
Set to launch October (maybe because of her scary relation to Halloween), the “I don’t give a f%@k” singer
will launch her collaboration with Fred Perry.
Even scarier, its booked for not one, not two, but FOUR seasons.
Of course, she was “very involved” with the designing,
like every celeb is with their make-shift clothing lines.
We just hope she was less involved than Lindsay was with her disastrous Ungaro colab.
QUOTED: In a palette of mostly black and pink, the 17-piece collection includes a girlish twinset;
slim, thigh-skimming pencil skirts; capri pants, a mini bowling dress,
and Fred Perry’s signature polo shirts (“collars are most definitely raised,” the press release effused).
All jokes aside, I love this broad.
Although, I would have been more excited if the collection
were modeled with busted photos of her giving us the bird
and shredded, faux blood and coke stain printed pieces.
So you probably saw Monday morning the best/worst dressed lists of the 2010 Oscars.
As interesting to us is what the stars changed into for the famous Vanity Fair Oscar After Party. Behold! Some of the best (and worst, can you pick them out) dressed ladystarz of the night..
The world of fashion has just lost one of its greats, the brilliant mind and spirit of Alexander McQueen.
Fashion designer Alexander McQueen was found dead at his London home at the age of 40. The brilliant, yet controversial fashion designer took his place in the upper-echelon of fashion designers with his wide array of fashion designs that were described as being distinctive, dramatic, different and perfect for red carpet presentations or late-night rock gatherings.
He was not just a designer, but an inspiration and true innovator in the world of fashion. His mark in this world will not be forgotten.
This phrase has managed to secure a strong place in today’s world of ‘fast’ fashion, slowly but surely. Fast fashion involves replicating the creations of top designers as witnessed on the ramp and making them available at retail stores at slashed down prices. The delivery cycle that governs fast fashion is astonishingly short – manufacturing millions of pieces by processes that are insensitive to the environment, leaving no scope to imbibe the green values of reuse and recycle in the quality of the material which is used, churning out clothes one after the other whose future is either abandonment behind locked closets or landfills. It’s almost as if newly manufactured clothes are meant to be discarded season after season, as there’s always a new lot waiting on the racks of the fast fashion retailers, luring the consumers with their reduced price tags.
Last few years show a remarkable shift towards the slow fashion trend, with more and more people adopting vintage fashion and second-hand clothing. People have exhibited a growing affection for vintage clothing that is longer-lasting, clothes that speak quality, garments that exhibit fine craftsmanship, purely authentic collectibles that stand the test of time. Manufacturing these fine clothes is a slow and steady process that involves choosing the right fabric, intricate detailing, and most importantly ensuring that the entire process is not effectuated by design operations that are harmful to our planet. Ultimately, the goal of slow fashion is to encourage the consumers to invest in trans-seasonal clothing that is meaningful and lasting, and reduce their dependability on new clothes, thus helping them to contribute towards greening of our planet.
After our 1st blow-out sale that sent ripples across the city with a rare medley of some of their finest vintage pieces, We’re all set to churn out our best lot of vintage clothing for our 2nd warehouse sale, this time with wider options and juicier discounts on women’s and men’s vintage finery. Our warehouse sale to be held on December 5th 2009 is also aimed towards sharing the real essence of LA Vintage, which goes beyond just being a vintage fashion company. LAV’s a company whose vintage clothing is not effectuated by design operations that are harmful to our planet. Be it women’s vintage clothing, men’s vintage clothing, vintage accessories, or vintage boots, every piece here at LAV echoes that protecting the environment does not mean sacrificing style, sophistication, or comfort. Our 2nd warehouse sale will offer a glimpse of how we run our green operation. To restore the brand’s authenticity and fight against the online counterfeiting of its vintage accessories, Gucci is collaborating with Christie’s Auction House to build the “Gucci Collector”, a dedicated section on www.christies.com. Gucci Collector will provide virtual evaluation of Gucci vintage items that are potential candidates for auction. This online evaluation process will involve uploading of images of Gucci items that are owned by people seeking appraisals, for examination. “This new service will provide a trusted venue for transactions of vintage Gucci items, thereby avoiding recourse to uncontrolled auction sites such as eBay,” said Patrizio di Marco, chief executive of Gucci. According to Mr. di Marco, an online service is a noble way to provide access to original Gucci vintage products to a well-targeted audience.
Patricia Frost, director of fashion and textiles at Christie’s in London, will work with an in-house Gucci archivist in Florence to evaluate items for sale at auction. This new online evaluation process for Gucci collectors and customers is scheduled to go live by the end of the year, before the grand opening of Gucci’s museum in Florence next year and the brand’s 90th anniversary in 2011. The new project will assist Gucci in exhibiting brand’s rich archive of vintage items that have never been revealed to public at its Florence museum and enhance its cache of vintage treasures.
Thanks to our Frugal Flirty N Fab fashionista – Deidre McMillan who contributes to the world of fashion by sharing the latest styles that make rounds among the crème de la crème of the fashion industry, through her blog. We were delighted when Deidre chose a slick black LAV vintage dress hailing from the 80’s to wear for the Red Dress Fashion Show held at The Setai Hotel in South Beach. The sizzling show was organized at Funkshion Miami Beach Fashion Week to benefit the American Heart Association, which endeavors to empower all women to take charge of their heart diseases. Red Dress Fashion Show represented the American Heart Association’s campaign to “Go Red”, for raising awareness about heart disease, which is the number one killer of women over the age of 25. It featured red dresses by iconic designers such as Nicole Miller, Carolina Herrera, Michael Kors, Richie Rich, and Badgley Mishka. Models and celebrities including Miss Florida 2009 – Anastagia Pierre, Kristina Campins from Miami Social and The Apprentice, and the America’s Next Top Model Season 7 finalist – Anchal, dazzled in the red creations by these top-of-the-line designers, as they strutted down the runway. Staying loyal to Miami’s own classic fashion piece, the swimwear, the show also featured a line of red swimwear by the apparel giant Jantzen. The “Go Red” show was hosted by Loren Ridinger, the creative director of Motives, the cosmetic brand that was responsible for making all the runway models look sensational, enthralled the crowd with her long red dress that enunciated vintage fashion all the way!
We are thrilled that our black vintage dress made Deidre’s night at the Red Dress Fashion show special. And we hope that there will be many more chosen-ones from our collection to take part in similar philanthropic events that combine fashion with a good cause!
Topp magazine has published a new interview with Tokio Hotel in their latest issue. In the interview the boys talk about the topics that have come to be usual for interviews lately: Childhood, girls, fans, and other celebrities.
Why Tokio Hotel?
It was because we were so young and thought it would be cool with an English name Bill giggles. We are hoping to go to Tokio soon, he smiles.
Bill is known for his style and stage outfit, and when Topp meets the singer he’s dressed in a fancy leather blazer with shoulder pads, high healed plateau shoes and skinny jeans. The nails are black and he has heavy massive jewelry on.
Do you get the clothes designed for you?
Well, I draw a lot of them my selves. And then I have someone to help me. I also love secondhand. I love vintage clothes. I have over 25 vintage jackets.
Is there a designer in you?
I have always had an interest for design and my mother is an industrial designer. I have learned a lot from her.
