Within Westwood’s Fall RTW ‘10 collection resides one common theme: bulk. Past the days of her bustle-revival (creating a lot of excess in the rear, obviously), she has brought the volume to the shoulders, most notably with draping. This created a semi-straight, almost hippie-gypsy-like drop to the clothes. The bulk was not only in the drape, however. Daring mixes of texture and pattern added to the bohemian affect. Her use of layering in mixtures of suede, knits, and some nylon looking fabric create depth and bravado. These layers added to the prints, which were mainly the inside, fitted layer. Many of the bold prints centered around orange/red/yellow, creating a romantic look at the fall.

With that being said, many of these styles can be found within clothing from the seventies. LA Vintage’s Shirly Lady Wrap Dress would make a perfect base-layer to the Westwood-themed bulk. Top it with a 70s Norwegian cardigan and a HUGE scarf in some shade of brown, yellow, or orange. That should add some bulk to your fall look, right?
